Relaxed, outdoor wedding photography in Chelmsford | Essex documentary wedding photographer

Last autumn I had the pleasure of photographing Maria and Milan’s special day. They had a small, relaxed wedding with their nearest and dearest at Chelmsford registry office in Essex, followed by some couple portraits at Danbury Lakes & ending with an lovely, intimate meal at The Lion Inn in Boreham. What made the day extra special was that Maria had her closest family fly over from Spain. You could really feel the excitement and love from everyone.

Maria came to me with the idea of having for couple portraits at Danbury Lakes and honestly I squealed with excitement inside because this is definitely in my top 3 favourite places for photo shoots in Essex - to get the opportunity to shoot there as a wedding photographer was very cool to me. We definately shared the same vision and it all just worked so perfectly!

I feel very lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful locations and wedding venues in Essex. It is a wedding photographers dream, especially when have a relaxed and documentary style.

As a documentary wedding photographer in Essex one of my main jobs before the big day is to listen to exactly what you want and to feel your vision. My natural and documentary style means I won’t be setting anything up or curating moments, the day will just unfold naturally and I will simply capture it as it happens. They main reason I do things this way is because I want you to look back at these photos and see so many memories that you didn’t even know were taken and on your special day I don’t want you to have to act or play out any moments. If the emotion is there it’s there, if the laughter or excitement is there it’ll be there. The only shots excluded from this documentary style Is of course things like the confetti shot, group photos and then the couple portraits will have simple prompts and games behind them so again will feel very natural with the focus on the two of you, not the ‘pose’ you’re in.

I just had to share with you some favourites from Maria and Milan’s wedding day and show you how even a small wedding in Chelmsford, Essex can look magical.
