An Apton Hall spring time Wedding | Natural wedding photography Essex
I had the best day photographing Chloe and Jamie’s Wedding at Apton Hall in Rochford, Essex. This venue had been on my bucket list since forever so I was so thrilled when they told me where they were getting married!
I started the day capturing the finishing touches of Chloe getting ready, along with guest arrivals and some details of the venue. They had some lovely little touches placed in different rooms as you’ll see in the photos, such as old photos of themselves with family and friends, candles, a post box for people to post their hand written messages to them and beautiful flowers in little vases.
It was then time for their ceremony..
I always like to capture the groom at the front to document that moment of nervousness and excitement and interactions between guests before the ceremony begins. And this is similar for all the main events in the day.. As well as those key moments, for me it’s also about all those moments in between and I aim to document as much of the day as I can so that when you view back your gallery, their aren’t any gaps - you really are watching the day back as it naturally unfolded.
After a beautiful ceremony, the couple made their exit we went into their confetti shot which is always a lot of fun!!
During the drinks reception, I focus on capturing natural, candid shots - these will always be my favourite kind of shot! There’s something special about photographing people when they’re fully in the moment - laughing, chatting or even having a beautiful, emotional moment. Apton Hall’s outdoor space provides a lovely space for these relaxed moments.
We then moved on to the group photos, making the most of a few different spots around the venue, one of which is like a secret little garden tucked away, you have the greenery combined which the brick work which I love!
Afterwards, I took the couple off for a short portrait session where I had previous scouted out many beautiful spots around the grounds. From rustic brickwork with climbing flowers and ivy to long grass and wildflowers, Apton Hall definitely left me spoilt for choice!
The final part of the day that I captured was the speeches. These were full of heartfelt words and raw emotion - tears, laughter, and everything in between. I always feel so privilege to witness and document these moments!
Some of the stand out things I love about this venue is firstly the layout. Everything is in one place and feels so neat and well laid out - Each room just flows seamlessly in the next. As an Essex wedding photographer, it’s venues like this that make my job such a joy!
And then of course you’re also surrounded by the greenery and charming little spots for groups and couple portraits, which will look different throughout the year with the different flowers etc.
Lastly, the staff there are lovely and everything is planned down to a t, so everything just feels very organised and like you’re in safe hands throughout every part of the day.
Apton Hall truly is a gem of a venue and I can’t wait to go back!
If you’re looking at Apton Hall in Essex as a possible wedding venue for yourself, I’d really recommend checking it out because it really is such a great venue for so many reasons.
